Synopsis:

Charley Brewster (William Ragsdale), a typical high school student, begins to suspect that something strange is going on with his new neighbor, Jerry Dandridge (Chris Sarandon). When a series of bizarre events occur around the house next door—screams in the night, odd disappearances, and strange behavior—Charley becomes convinced that Jerry is a vampire. But no one believes him, including his girlfriend Amy (Amanda Bearse) and his best friend Evil Ed (Stephen Geoffreys), who mock him for his wild suspicions.

Desperate for help, Charley turns to Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall), a washed-up actor who once starred in a vampire hunting TV show called Fright Night. Although initially skeptical and dismissive, Peter eventually teams up with Charley to investigate Jerry, who, as it turns out, is indeed a centuries-old vampire.

As Jerry's true nature is revealed, he begins to target Charley, Amy, and anyone else who stands in his way. Charley must now fight to save his loved ones and stop Jerry from claiming more victims. What follows is a thrilling blend of dark humor, suspense, and practical horror effects as Charley, Peter, and their friends face off against a vampire in their own backyard.
