The Best Star Wars Games To Play On May The 4th

When the calendar hits May the 4th, it's time to celebrate Star Wars! Although it has been three years since the most recent major Star Wars film hit cinemas, the series is still going strong with a variety of television shows and video games. In fact, if you're looking for another way to celebrate besides watching the original trilogy for the millionth time, playing a Star Wars game on May 4th is a perfect way to get in the (unofficial) holiday spirit.

In anticipation of this festive day of intergalactic adventure, we've whipped up a list of the best Star Wars games that you should play on May 4! Whether it's a retro classic that's still fun to play or a brand new adventure in a galaxy far, far away, these five games will surely satisfy your inner Jedi (or Sith Lord). With that said, here are our picks for the best Star Wars games to play on May 4.

The Best Star Wars Games to Play on May the 4th

  1. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

We've already gushed at length about how Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is arguably the best Lego game ever made, but we'll happily use this opportunity to continue our praise. Since the first Lego Star Wars game was released in 2005, the series has been a perfect place for fans of the franchise to experience the events of the films in a fun and engaging way, regardless of previous gaming experience. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga guides players through an adventure spanning all nine of the mainline films, with dozens of hours of content to enjoy. Featuring over 300 playable characters, more than 25 planets to explore, and a surplus of fan service, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is an absolute gem. The game is available on most major platforms, including the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC!

  1. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

If you're looking for a Star Wars game that's less kid-friendly and features an original story, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order should fit the bill. This challenging third-person action game is set five years after the events of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and tells the story of ex-Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis, who evades capture by the Empire as he attempts to rebuild the Jedi Order. Jedi: Fallen Order provides everything a Star Wars fan could want, including lightsaber fights, cool force moves, and a rich sci-fi story set in their beloved galaxy. Between the awesome boss fights and exceptionally cool character cameos, Jedi: Fallen Order offers an action-packed way to celebrate May 4! Unfortunately, the game is not available on Nintendo Switch, but you can enjoy it on every other major gaming platform.

  1. Star Wars Battlefront II (2017)

Shooting games based on the Star Wars movies are few and far between, but luckily, there are some fantastic options within the genre. Although Star Wars Battlefront II got off to a rocky start when it was originally released in 2017, the game has received tons of updates and improvements, resulting in a resurgence of popularity. While it contains a brief single-player campaign set after the events of the original trilogy, the core of Battlefront II's content is its online multiplayer, including large-scale ground battles and even fights between iconic heroes and villains. Better yet, the game includes various maps that cover all eras of the Star Wars universe, ranging from the spaceport town of Mos Eisley to the Starkiller Base from Episode VII: The Force Awakens. If you want a Star Wars game to play online with friends on May 4, this is a great choice.

  1. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

When this amazing RPG was first released on the Xbox and PC in 2003, fans of Star Wars couldn't stop praising its rich original story, extensive lore, and meaningful choices. Now, with a next-generation remake in the works, there's no better time to check out this fan-favorite classic. Set nearly 4,000 years before the events of the original film trilogy, Knights of the Old Republic tells the story of a brave Jedi who explores the galaxy in search of a Dark Lord of the Sith named Darth Malak. Featuring strategic round-based combat and lengthy dialogue sequences, this is an ideal Star Wars game for lore-lovers to play on May 4. That said, the game is only available on a limited number of retro systems, until the remake comes out for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

  1. Super Star Wars

There are a slew of modern Star Wars games to play on May 4, but if you favour the retro era of gaming, now's a good time to experience the classic, 16-bit Super Star Wars. While the game was originally released in 1992 on the Super Nintendo, fans with a PlayStation 4 can also play the remastered version that was released in 2015. This difficult but satisfying sidescrolling adventure game loosely follows the events of Episode IV: A New Hope, with players controlling Luke Skywalker as he blasts through droids and slashes through the Death Star with his lightsaber. Truthfully, Super Star Wars will test your gaming skill to ridiculous heights, but if you're an old-school fan looking for a hit of nostalgia, there's nothing better than this legendary title from the 1990s.
