Five Hotly Anticipated Games for Christmas 2021
We all know the holidays are a time to relax, get together and spend some time with our loved ones. But we all also secretly know that it’s a fantastic opportunity to get some down time in some interesting new games. A fact that’s only bolstered by it being a time of gift-giving. Here are five titles we’re super excited to get our hands on this Christmas.
Halo Infinite | December 8 | Xbox Series X
It has been a long time coming, with the last mainline entry in the Halo franchise coming way back in 2015. But Halo Infinite promises to bring the series into next gen. Continuing the story of the legendary master chief, it is set to be the greatest narrative in the Halo universe to date. With the game’s multiplayer also being a hotly awaited affair. Especially now that Xbox Game Studios have tipped the multiplayer portion to be completely free to play.
Metroid Dread | October 8 | Nintendo Switch
Another instalment in a legendary series, Metroid Dread takes us back to the roots of the franchise dropping us into the first 2D Metroid title in 19 years! Of course, this doesn’t mean that the title hasn’t come a long way since then. With the newest instalment offering up all the bells and whistles of contemporary game development. But what will excite long-term fans the most is that Metroid Dread aims to round out the series’ story that began way back in 1986.
Age of Empires 4 | October 28 | PC
A truly legendary series, Age of Empires 4 will surely be a holy grail for lovers of real-time strategy, a genre which has fallen into obscurity in recent history. Basing itself on very real histories, Age of Empires 4 takes players across campaigns encompassing eight playable civilisations spanning over 500 years of history.
Call of Duty Vanguard | November 5 | PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One Dropping us into the visceral battlefield of World War 2, Call of Duty Vanguard follows the stories of four characters based on real fighters of the time. Exploring the horrors of war from the perspective of the war’s perspectives. With the typical Multiplayer, Zombies and newer Warzone also finding home in this absolutely stunning title, fans of military shooters will have a ball with this one.
Chorus | December 3 | PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One
A new kid on the block, Chorus is a single player action shooter which takes a page from the book of classic space shooters. Taking control of Nara, a wanted fugitive, players go on a journey to destroy a dark intergalactic cult alongside her sentient starfighter. Providing a plethora of zero-g combat. Certainly, one for lovers of sci-fi. There’s plenty to get your hands on this fall, with the games market being the best and most accessible it’s ever been. So be sure to put aside some time to dig into these new titles. You won’t regret it.
